Guide to Art
Curriculum |

The National Standards
of Art Education, which includes Discipline Based Art Education (DBEA),
are implemented in the Aurora Public School district. DBEA is an approach
to art education which incorporates these four areas of study: |
| Art History - studying art in context to time and culture. | |
| Art Production - creating art to convey meaning. | |
| Aesthetics - analyzing the values of art. | |
| Art Criticism - interpreting and evaluating art. |

| This course is an introductory art class exploring various two-dimensional and three-dimensional art. Projects will include but not limited to, drawing, painting, oil pastels, and fiber art in the form of Hopi basket making. It will also include components on Art History and critical evaluation. | |
| Art 8 (Nine weeks) - PDF of 8th Grade Curriculum Strands | |
| This class is designed to be a more in depth study and exploration of art techniques and media. Projects will include drawing, painting, collage, Navajo weaving, computer art, and mixed media. Other aspects integrated will be art history, criticism, aesthetics, interpretation, and the elements and principles of art. | |
| Manners
